LIP BLUSH

Lip blush is a cosmetic tattoo applied to the lips to give them a natural flush of color. While also subtly defining and contouring the lip, it adds a boost of vitality while providing balance and an enhancement that brightens the face overall. Color options are endless, and can either provide a sheer wash of color or something that is a bit more punchy. Those that struggle with loss of natural lip pigmentation, scar camouflage, or even medical asymmetry can benefit too in a focus to bring back the natural flush to the lip area.

To prepare for the procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied (more numbing will be applied during as well to keep discomfort at a minimum). While the initial numbing cream is sitting, the consultation will take place. Shape, color, healing instructions, the lip’s healing phases, and any questions that come up will be covered during the consultation. The lips will then be designed on the face for approval, and any adjustments can be made before the tattoo is applied. Once a shape has been agreed upon, the procedure will begin. Using a cosmetic tattoo machine, the chosen color is shaded into the superficial layers of the skin. Layering the chosen color can either give a naturally flushed look, or a more full on pout depending on clients wishes. For most clients, the length of the initial appointment is roughly 3 hours. After the lip blushing procedure is completed, a couple days of swelling is normal as well as a deeper color initially, but the lips will soften and soften about 50% once healed for a beautiful misty wash of color.

There is a 7-10 day healing process but going about day to day activities will not be an issue. Taking off work is not necessary and normal life can continue while the lips heal. The complimentary 8 week touch up will be scheduled during the initial appointment. This touch up is where the lip shade and shape are fine tuned and perfected, Depending on lifestyle, lip blush generally lasts around 3-5 years. Once both sessions have been completed, it is recommended to come in every 2-4 years for a color refresh touch up.

  • Diabetes: High blood sugar levels can complicate the healing process, with higher risk of infection. It is very important to check in with a Doctor to ensure the condition is stable and under control.

  • Chemotherapy: Chemotherapy medications can often weaken the immune system. This make the body more susceptible to infection and more difficult to heal. Once cleared from an oncologist, an appointment can be booked.

  • Thyroid conditions: The color of the brows can fade faster when taken with certain thyroid medications.

  • Glaucoma: The risk of developing an eye infection can be higher.

  • High Blood Pressure: Those with high blood pressure may have slightly greater bleeding than normal. Excessive bleeding could cause the ink not to stick properly and lead to poor healed results.
